“When the Lord tells us to go see what we have to offer, whether regarding time, talents, or treasure, He expects us to declare everything we have—not everything we have left over after we have cared for ourselves. They gave away what they themselves needed, and Jesus turned their sacrifice into surplus.

Moses was eighty years old when God showed up in a burning bush. “God wanted Moses to free His people from Egypt. . . . So Moses started looking for reasons why this plan of God’s wouldn’t work. First, Moses, thinking himself ill-equipped for the task, asked God, ‘What makes You think I can do this?’ God answered Moses, ‘I’ll be with you.’ God was saying, ‘Who you are doesn’t matter. The fact that I’m with you does.’
